Marcya resided in New York/ New Jersey for more than a decade. She operated a private voice studio which catered to both professional and novice singers of all ages. Marcya’s philosophy of singing is “healthy singing across genres”. During her time out East, she gradually transitioned to a cross-genre career and began coaching with Mr. Burt Eckoff, a Jazz pianist who had work with a number of critically acclaimed singers including Dionne Warwick, The Drifters, Eddie Jefferson, and most importantly Dakota Staton.
Marcya recorded and co-produced her CD “Keeping it Simple” with internationally acclaimed trombonist Wycliffe Gordon. “Keeping it Simple” was recorded at the legendary Nola Recording Studios in New York, NY by engineer/owner Jim Czak. The project, which includes a blues written by Marcya and Wycliffe (“Nosey Folks Blues”), was released on Gordon’s former indie label Bluesback Records and features appearances by pianist Aaron Diehl (Wynton Marsalis) and bassist Dezron Douglas (Cyrus Chestnut).
